Le peigne de Mirine

Expression of paleochristian art, Mirine’s comb is a piece exceptional archeological discovery discovered in April 2017 during the last excavation campaign of the Franco-Croatian mission, conducted as part of the Mirine-Fulfinum Archaeological Park project (Omišalj municipality, island of Krk).
This ivory comb, whose use was probably liturgical, is decorated on both sides with carved images of the miracles of Christ.
Mirine’s comb enriches the world’s very small body of combs early Christian liturgical works and constitutes a discovery of recent Croatian archeology.
Its restoration was ensured by the museum’s restoration workshop archaeological site of Zagreb.
