SUMMARY:D’une nécropole antique du Haut-Empire à la naissance de la ville d’Auxerre au IVe siècle
DESCRIPTION:Conférence de Loïc Gaëtan (Inrap) dans le cycle L’instant archéo. \nDe février à juin 2024\, l’Inrap a mené une fouille sur la place du Maréchal Leclerc à Auxerre en amont de son réaménagement paysager. Cette opération dans le centre historique de la ville retrace l’évolution de ce quartier urbain de l’Antiquité romaine jusqu’au XIXe siècle. \nParmi les vestiges\, l’enceinte fortifiée (castrum) du IVe siècle est le témoin de la refondation de la ville d’Autessiodurum et de son accession au rang de capitale de la nouvelle cité d’Auxerre. \nCette fortification s’installe ici sur une nécropole du Haut-Empire (Ier-IIIe siècle) jusqu’ici inconnue pour Auxerre. Celle-ci présente la particularité de regrouper presque exclusivement des enfants en très bas âge\, espace très rarement fouillé en Gaule romaine. \nEntrée libre dans la limite des places disponibles
