Offre de thèse sur les mesures de gazs à effet de serre sur les tourbières couplées avec des analyses d’amibes à thèque à l’Université de Neuchâtel

The university of Neuchâtel is looking for a PhD in peatland microbial ecology and biogeochemistry to develop and test predictive models based on the analysis of testate amoebae for inference of CH4 and CO2 exchanges at the surface of peatlands. The PhD student will conduct field measurements of gas exchanges at the surface of Swiss peatlands, model the annual budgets based on these measurements, and analyse testate amoeba communities by microscopy to develop inference models (transfer functions) for rapid assessment of current and past carbon fluxes from peatlands. The work is primarily based in Switzerland but involves international collaboration. Applications will be reviewed as they arrive. The position may start in July or later in 2021. A driving license and capacity to conduct field work are requirements for this position. Please address any further enquiries and send your application (cv, motivation letter, names and contact of two reference persons) to : edward.mitchell chez unine.ch
