Postdoctoral position in Environmental Seismology, Besançon

The Chrono-environment laboratory in Besançon, France, offers a 12 months postdoctoral position focusing on passive seismic imaging of underground rivers.

The candidate will participate to the interdisciplinary research project SISMEAUCLIM aiming at better characterizing the response of hydrogeological reservoirs during extreme meteorological events (flash floods, drought). The project involves three teams specialized in Seismology, Hydrogeology and Climatology located in the Chrono-environnement (Besançon) and Biogéosciences (Dijon) institutes (France).

The candidate will work on data from a dense seismic network installed for 4 months over a catchment basin in the Jura mountains. Seismic stations are located at the surface and at 20-m depth. The main task will be to perform spectral analysis and apply seismic interferometry methods for monitoring velocity changes induced by water flow into the hydrogeological reservoir.

The post-doc will also take part to the field work together with researchers, students and technicians involved in the SISMEAUCLIM project.

Required qualifications

Ph.D. in geophysics obtained before the date of the application ; Expertise in seismological data processing ; Interest for field work ; Fluency in French or English languages.

Practical information

For full consideration, an application letter along with a curriculum vitae (including research experience, publications and conferences, computing skills and different language practice) should be sent by email to Julie Albaric (julie.albaric chez univ-fcomte.fr).
