The fundamental issues concern ecology and functional biology : the study of pollutant transfers and their impacts makes it possible to document certain little-known aspects of the functioning of organisms and ecological systems, in particular those relating to the processes governing the flow of matter. at different spatial and temporal scales or at different levels of biological organization.

Methodological approaches are intrinsically cross-disciplinary.
The scientific knowledge and knowledge produced gives rise to applications and feeds on questions arising from expertise activities.

• identification des processus gouvernant l’exposition aux polluants, les transferts et les effets des contaminants (terres rares, métaux, radionucléïdes, polluants organiques persistants…) dans les systèmes écologiques continentaux
• évaluation et gestion des risques environnementaux, co-exposition et toxicité des mélanges, procédés innovants de traitement des eaux
• vulnérabilité des ressources et milieux naturels (agro-écosystèmes, terroirs, milieux aquatiques…).

Les problématiques fondamentales concernent l’écologie et la biologie fonctionnelle : l’étude des transferts de polluants et de leurs impacts permet de documenter certains aspects méconnus du fonctionnement des organismes et des systèmes écologiques, notamment ceux qui ont trait aux processus gouvernant les flux de matière à différentes échelles spatiales et temporelles ou à différents niveaux d’organisation biologique.

Les approches méthodologiques sont intrinsèquement trans-disciplinaires.
Les connaissances et savoirs scientifiques produits donnent lieu à des applications et se nourrissent des questionnements issus des activités d’expertise.
