The centrifugation is a process of separation of the compounds of a mixture by submitting them to a centrifugal force. She allows the “recovery” of a precipitate, the separation of elements represented in the blood (red blood cells, white blood cells, plaques in suspension in the blood plasma), the separation of cellular compounds, the desiccation of muds for the waste water treatment.

Brief summary of the activity
Preparation of samples of all kinds (muds, sediments, grounds, vegetation, animal tissues) by drying.
The drying can take place in a stove (in this case, the volatile elements such as the mercury will be lost), either by freeze-drying. This technique allows to keep the shape and the aspect of samples and facilitates the operation of grinding.
The analyzes or preparations
- Freeze-drying : vacuum dehydration by sublimation of a product (solid, pasty or liquid) beforehand frozen in -80°C (a freezer in 80°C is also in the room) : the steam leaves the product and is captured by means of a cold trap. The time of drying is of 48 hours on average but can vary from 24 to 72 hours according to the nature or the size of samples.
- Drying or mineralization of samples, range of temperature of 0 in 200° C. The time of drying can vary from 12 to 72 hours according to the nature or the size of samples.

Brief summary of the activity
An autoclave is a device of laboratory allowing to realize the sterilization, under pressure, of objects of full shape, hollow, porous, packed or not packed. He allows then to use the object sterilized without any risk of contamination.
So that an object of laboratory is completely sterile, it is necessary to eliminate all the germs. Autoclaves allow to destroy the most virulent microorganisms, but must also be rather flexible to protect the integrity of components, products and packagings. A big range of cycles of sterilization increases the versatility of processing.
