Chrono-environnement is the research unit of the Zone atelier Arc jurassien, one of the twelve workshop zones labelled by the Institut Écologie et Environnement of the CNRS, within a national network recognised by the International Long Term Ecological Research Network (ILTER) and Allenvi. Created in 2013, the ZAAJ federates and supports a multidisciplinary network of partnership research conducted on the interactions between the environment, society and the dynamics of mid-mountain socio-ecological systems. The six partner laboratories are particularly interested in the study of environmental changes over time and the links between the environment and the health of ecosystems and humans.
