The institute

Historical
The Chrono-environment laboratory was created on January 1, 2008 by the merger of the UMR 6565 of Chrono-ecology, the EA 3184 UsC INRA Laboratory of Environmental Biology, the EA 2642 Geosciences, a part of the EA 2276 Health and Rural Environment of Franche-Comté and EA 3186 Physiopathology and Epidemiology of Anti-Infectious Resistance.

In 2012, the Chemistry-Physics and Radiation Laboratory - Alain Chambaudet (LCPR-AC), UMR CEA E4 and the IRMA group (Informatics & Radiation Physics for Medical Applications) of UMR CNRS 6174 FEMTO-ST joined Chrono- environment.

Finally, as of June 30, 2015, the Chrono-environnement laboratory has 280 members. In total, the UMR Chrono-environnement currently has around 300 statutory staff and between 60 and 70 doctoral students and postdoctoral fellows.

Research
Our laboratory brings together all the necessary skills to respond to the challenges raised by the global emergency to manage resources and biodiversity in a sustainable manner, for a sustainable development of human populations. As such, we have chosen to build our project around the objectives of the international "Future Earth" initiative, which promotes the acquisition of the knowledge required for sustainable global development, by supporting actions aimed at observing, understanding and predicting the processes involved in the biogeosphere, long-term human-land-environment interactions, and past, present and future environmental, ecotoxicological and epidemiological issues.

The coexistence in the laboratory of skills in life sciences, sciences of the universe, health sciences, physical and chemical sciences, human sciences, and mathematics, is to our knowledge unique at the national level.
The policy of animation around scientific projects, and a functioning without disciplinary teams allow to federate an important part of the researchers of the unit, all disciplines combined, around themes and common projects, and to thus lead to great actions interdisciplinary.

Guardianship
The laboratory is a UMR under the supervision of the University of Franche-Comté and the CNRS (INEE, INSHS, INSU and INSB) which is associated with both INRA, INRAP, the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Culture. CEA.

Training
The research developed gives rise to an adapted training offer (Masters ASA, EDGE, Health, Society, QuEST, CMI Applied Geology, Environmental Management and Risk Management-, Master SHS specialty Archeology, cultures, territories, environment).
