French-German Conference Franco-Allemand: Abrupt climate changes during the Last 50 000 yrs in Continental Europe

Tuesday Marche 27th 2018, at 1pm Room -107M

This seminar aims at presenting the latest results of an international collaborative research project between Chrono-Environnmenent lab. and the Technical University of Dresde/Martin Luther University of Halle (Germany). This project focuses on the study of the last glacial-interglacial cycle in Western Central Europe, which is characterized by a complex climate variability at centennial to millennial scales with magnitude and rate of changes similar to changes predicted for the future. It is thus particularly suited for proxy-based paleoclimate approaches and ecosystem response assessment to abrupt climate changes. In this seminar, we will particularly focus on the results from Bergsee Lake, a unique sedimentary archive from Southern Germany (Black Forest).
