Palynology, paleoenvironment, paleoclmiatology, social-environmental relations, agricultural practices

Reconstruction of the evolution of vegetation and climate over the last 20 millennia, based on the analysis of pollen grains and spores preserved in lake, marsh and peat sediments. Relations between successive human societies and their environment over the last eight millennia.

Three main themes:

* ancient and current references, and multiple uses of pollen

* changing relationships between human settlements, vegetation and climate

* causes of variations in agro-sylvopastoral landscapes.
